We want power so we can do what we want. We want the trust of others so we can do what we want without interference. Since we typically use our power without considering its impact on others, we assume others do the same. In such a world, trust means being gullible, foolish. People who trust others are taken advantage of by those who don’t trust others. A world without trust is a world of constant struggle for power. The irony is that trust is how you get power. Where there is trust there is power. Without trust the world quickly becomes unhealthy in every sense of the word. It is a lack of trust that drives self-concern and self-centeredness. This in turn creates a world where self-concern and self-interest are the only strategies for success. Considering others is just a way to let someone else get what they want while you get nothing. We have created a world where someone else always has control over what we need to survive or to succeed or to be happy. And so we struggle. To create a different world, a world where the success of one actually helps others to succeed, where health and happiness are how we live rather than what we struggle to achieve; to create such a world, we must learn to trust. Our inability to trust runs so deep we do not even trust our selves. We spend much of our time and energies controlling our thoughts, behaviors, emotions. And so, before we trust each other, we must trust our self. We must trust who we are and what we do when we are not controlling who we are and what we do. If we do not trust our self, no one else can or should trust us either. And if we must control our self, we are unworthy of the trust of others. The inability to trust is unhealthy because it generates stress. Where there is trust, there is no stress, the power of life can generate health, a wealth of vitality, a reservoir of power. We can use that power succeed, to achieve worthwhile goals. The Secrets of Personal Power workshop shows you exactly how to trust so your personal power builds, allowing you to achieve your deepest and truest dream in ways that are healthy for you and others. And the way to building self confidence is to live in trust.
